News - 30.01.2025
The owners of Modity Energy Trading AB (Modity), Kraftringen and Öresundskraft, welcome Jönköping Energi and Umeå Energi as new shareholders in Modity.

Together, the owners aim to take Modity to the next level in developing the electricity trading business, ensuring secure and flexible products and services.
Modity Energy Trading AB is one of Sweden’s leading energy trading companies. With additional shareholders, the company further strengthens its market position.
The agreement means that the four energy companies will each own a quarter of Modity and will jointly develop the future of energy trading, focusing on energy services, optimization of energy assets, innovation, and sustainability.
The new shareholders, Jönköping Energi and Umeå Energi, will contribute valuable expertise and resources, enabling an even stronger commitment to exploring and implementing future energy solutions.
“We are excited to shape the future of energy trading together with Jönköping Energi and Umeå Energi. Together, we will accelerate Modity’s development, focusing on delivering sustainable and innovative energy solutions to our customers,” says Anders Östlund, CEO of Öresundskraft.
A broader ownership structure will allow for an even greater focus on developing smart energy services, increasing the pace of digitalization, and improving the customer experience. By combining insights, experience, and resources from all four owners, Modity is in a stronger position to pioneer the future of energy trading.
“By joining forces, we can create a center of excellence and a strong platform for sustainable development, increased efficiency, and innovation. Something that will benefit both customers and owners. We look forward to exploring opportunities to further develop the energy landscape of the future together,” says Sezgin Kadir, CEO of Kraftringen Energi.
“We are very much looking forward to collaborating with all four owner companies. They are all key players that take great social responsibility and have clear ambitions for how they want to develop the business. Together, we want to ensure efficient and long-term management of energy assets while developing products and offerings for energy companies’ customers that are tailored for the future energy market,” says Jonas Ekblad, CEO of Modity.
